Kid Bank is a small family project for teaching kids about money. It isn't a real bank and never touches real money. Here's what it stores and why, in plain words.
What we store
- Parents: your name and email from Google sign-in, so you can log in.
- Kids: whatever first name, emoji and color a parent chooses, and a PIN (stored scrambled with bcrypt, never readable). Kids don't sign up or give us anything themselves.
- Family records: the pretend balances, deposits, chores, goals and notes your family enters.
Who can see it
Only members of your family. Anyone with your family code can see your kids' first names and emoji on the login screen (that's how kids pick themselves), so share the code only with your family.
Analytics
We count how the app is used (things like "a chore was claimed") with PostHog, tied to a random ID, never to a name, email or family code. There's no session recording. If your browser sends Do Not Track, analytics are off.
Cookies and other services
A login cookie keeps you signed in. Fonts load from Google Fonts. Server logs keep basic request details for troubleshooting. We don't sell or share your data with anyone, and there are no ads.
Deleting your data
Parents can remove a kid in Settings, which deletes that kid's records for good. To delete your whole family, email hello@braxtonchristensen.com from the address you sign in with.
